What a fantastic two days we have had in Dosbarth Porffor! We have had lots of fun selling cakes, decorations and lots more goodies to the other classes and parents. We would like to say a BIG thank you to everyone who came along and supported us.
We are going to count up all the money tomorrow to see how much we have raised for our outdoor classroom.

A Wonderful afternoon

Miss Shaw and I would like to thank all of the boys and girls for a fantastic afternoon. We thoroughly enjoyed ice skating with you all. I was so proud of everyone :) You were all very resilient and didn't give up.
I am looking forward to our winter Fayre, our concert and our trip to the theatre next week!

Dear Parents and Children,

On Monday 17th December we are selling lots of goodies in our winter Fayre. We are raising money for our outdoor area and hope you can come.

Children from the while school will be able to buy biscuits, decorations and drink.

The parents of 2S are also invited to come in from 2.30pm.

Dosbarth Porffor Winter Fayre

On Monday 17th December we are having a 'Winter Fayre' in our class to try and raise money to improve our outdoor area. We are going to be working hard this week to make decorations to sell. We will be inviting mums and dads to come along at 2.30pm on Monday afternoon.
We are going to be selling:
Hand made Christmas decorations
Home made cakes and biscuits
Milkshake and marshmallows
Bunches of holly and mistletoe
And many more exciting treats!
All of our goodies will be priced at either 20p, 50p or £1.
We would love it if you could come along and support us :)
Also, if you have any unwanted baubles or Christmas tree decorations that you could donate for our 'lucky dip' we would really appreciate it!

Da iawn, Hollie and Lillie-Mae for being chosen as 'The Stars of the Week'. I wonder who will be chosen next week. I will be looking for children who have practised their lines for the Christmas concert and who use expression when performing on the stage!

Christmas Concert

Wow! I am so impressed with how everyone has performed on the stage this week.  You are all natural actors and actresses!  I am handing out the words to accompany your parts in the Christmas play tomorrow so that you can learn them off by heart.

I look forward to seeing you all on the stage again tomorrow!

Having fun in the Outdoor Classroom!

On Monday we will be having lots of fun in the outdoor classroom.  Can everyone please bring in sports wear that they can wear outside in the cold weather.  We need to wrap up warm as Jack Frost is out and about!  We will need to wear suitable clothing and footwear for P.E.

Learning Logs

Hi boys and girls, well what fun we have been having the last few weeks learning all about Space!  I can't wait to see what your 3D planets look like when you have finished decorating them next week. 

I have also enjoyed reading the learning logs that children have brought in so far.  Can everyone else have their learning logs in by next Friday please, as I would like to set you one more task before the Christmas break.

Diwali Task by Mr T

The children have begun to learn about Diwali and I would love it if the children could complete a Rangoli pattern on Purple Mash.

Log onto Purple mash through the school website and click on Diwali on the front page. The Rangoli patterns are found near the bottom of the list of activities.

Enjoy and I cannot wait to see what wonderful patterns you make.

A Strange Event!!!

Wow!!! What an exciting day we have had today!  I hope everyone has told their mums and dads about the strange things that appeared in our yard this morning.  We have had lots of fun gathering evidence and logging it in our evidence books.  I wonder where the rockets have come from?  I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!  I wonder if our visitors will try to communicate with us?

Make sure you all get a good nights sleep as we have lots of investigating to do tomorrow!  Here are some photographs of the what we have been doing today!

Purple Mash Activity

We have had lots of fun learning about 'Bonfire Night' this week.  We have been poets writing interesting firework poems and historians learning about why we celebrate Bonfire Night.  I would like you to complete one more job linked to Bonfire Night.  I would like you to log in to Purple Mash on the home page of the school website and then click on the button that says 'Guy Fawkes'.  Once you have done that I would like you to complete the 'Firework Safety Poster' activity.  Remember we still need to write in full sentences with capital letters and full stops even when we are writing using the computer.  Also rememeber to save your work using the 'blue disk button' in the file called 'Dosbarth Porffor'.  I am looking forward to seeing your completed posters :)

Fab Learning Logs

Da iawn! I am glad to see that lots of children have got stuck into their learning log tasks over the half term.  The class have enjoyed listening to each other explain how and why they chose to present their task in their chosen way.  You are all very clever!

I will be sending a new learning log task out next week, so if all learning logs could be in by Monday that would be great!

I am looking forward to seeing what the rest have the class have done :)

Reading Days

We are going to give each group in the class a reading day this year.  We would like you to bring your books to school on your group day and we will change them, read with you and give you two new books for the week.  We have also given you all a spelling word wheel and a reading word wheel.  We would like you to practise your words, as much as you can, at home.  Here are the days for each group:

Adventurous Astronauts - Wednesday

Roaring Rockets - Thursday

Shooting Stars - Friday

What a fantastic start to the year we have had!  I am really impressed with how hard everyone is working.  Every week I am going to post your Purple Mash home activity on here so that you know what to do.

Purple Mash Activity - Autumn Sentences

Click on the Purple Mash icon on the home screen of the school website.  Enter in 'year 2' for both the username and the password.  Then click on 'home' followed by 'Autumn Term Activities'.  I would like you to write some descriptive autumn sentences using the template given.  Remember to think about all of the things we saw, heard, smelt and felt on our autumn walk on Tuesday.  When writing your sentences try and include adjectives to make your sentences interesting.

I am looking forward to reading all of your autumn sentences soon :)

You are all wonderful wizards!!!

I am really impressed with all of the magical spells you have started to write in class today.  We have both gruesome and enchanting ingredients!  Have a think tonight about what you can include in your spell to make it extra special and tomorrow we are going to be finishing writing them.  I hope no one casts their spell on me and turns me into frog :(  See you all tomorrow for lots more magical mayhem!

Learning Logs!

I have really enjoyed reading lots of your learning log homework tasks about '3D Shapes in the environment'.  I am looking forward to see what the rest of the class create in their learning logs.  Bring your learning log in by Friday as I have another task I want to set for the next two weeks.  Thank you!

St Davids Day Photographs

Just a reminder that the children will be having their photograph taken by the local newspaper to celebrate St Davids Day on Friday.  The children can wear traditional Welsh costumes or clothes that they feel celebrate their Welsh roots :)

Purple Mash

On Friday I will be sending home your purple mash log in cards so you can start enjoying learning at home with your family!  There is one task I would like you to complete by the 9th of March. 

 

This week we are having lots of fun creating, designing and producing our own T.V shows in class.  We have enjoyed learning about famous Welsh people and we have all chosen a celebrity to interview on our T.V show.  I would like you to carry out some research about famous welsh people at home and create a famous welsh person poster to show what you have found out using the purple mash activity to help you.

 

Once you have logged in to purple mash with your own username and password you need to select the button that says 'Themes'.  Then click on the icon showing 'Famous People', once you have done that select the activity entitled 'Famous Welsh People'. Then you can let your creative juices flow and get to work!

 

I hope you have lots of fun learning about peopl e who are famous in Wales and I look forward to looking at your finished task with the rest of the class in school.
